Degree Descriptions

The Bachelor of Arts in Urban Learning is an interdisciplinary program providing an undergraduate course of study that focuses on preparing students to become educators who are committed to providing a just, equitable and inclusive education in schools. The Urban Learning curriculum is for students interested in subsequently earning a post-baccalaureate teaching credential in special education or elementary education. As a complement to the coursework, students will complete observational fieldwork hours in an educational setting to prepare them for their post-baccalaureate student teaching.

The Master of Science Degree in Special Education is designed to help career special educators upgrade their skills, become informed about new ideas in special education, and prepare for curriculum leadership roles in public and private school settings. Students study research-based effective teaching practices to improve their teaching. The graduate program builds upon teacher preparation in the education specialist preliminary programs. While coursework in the credential programs focuses on developing knowledge and skills necessary for beginning teachers, the graduate program allows candidates to expand their knowledge and skills in curriculum design, instructional and assessment strategies, integrating technology, and reflective practice. This program is fully online.
