Undergraduate TESOL Professional Certificate

In cooperation with the Department of English, Comparative Literature and Linguistics, the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures offers an Undergraduate TESOL Professional Certificate for its undergraduate foreign language majors. The 18-unit program offers an option for French, Japanese and Spanish majors to complement their studies of language, linguistics and literature with an additional professional certification to teach English as a second or additional language, focusing on developing academic English language in school-aged children and youth in the U.S. and abroad. Students from other majors at CSUF may also participate.

Prerequisite Requirements (3-10 units)
- LING 106 (concurrent enrollment in TESL 300 is permitted).
- 10 units of a foreign language or the equivalent. Concurrent enrollment in TESL 300 is permitted.
- Oral and written proficiency in English. Non-native English-speaking applicants require: 1) minimum 89 iBT score, 573 paper-based TOEFL score, or 7.0 IELTS score; and 2) minimum 26 iBT speaking section score, 7.0 IELTS speaking section score or passing score on the TESOL Program in-house interview test.
