Associated Students Inc. at Cal State Fullerton serves as the student government and a nonprofit auxiliary corporation. It offers various engagement and development opportunities, including leadership, volunteer and employment experiences. ASI provides social, cultural and recreational opportunities, along with diverse programs and services to campus-community members. Every part-time or full-time student automatically becomes a member of ASI through semester fees. These fees are managed by ASI’s student-elected board of directors and executive staff, supporting student governance, university shared governance, student activities programming, funding for campus organizations and athletics, as well as operating the Titan Student Union, Student Recreation Center and Children’s Center.
Executive Officers
The ASI executive officers include the elected president and vice president, and a cabinet of three appointed officers. They support students by facilitating their needs and interests to the CSUF administration, faculty, staff and campus community. They manage the day-to-day proceedings of student government and programs and initiate projects that benefit students. In addition, the executive officers report progress on strategic initiatives to the board of directors.
Board of Directors
The ASI board of directors is composed of two voting representatives from each of the eight academic colleges on campus, as well as other officers and representatives. The board sets policy for Associated Students Inc., approving all funding allocations to programs and services, and advocating student interests on committees and boards. The board of directors meets every other Tuesday at 1:15 p.m. in the ASI Board Room of the Titan Student Union. These meetings are open to the public and all students are encouraged to attend.
Involvement
Students don’t have to be elected to an ASI office to participate in student leadership. They can get involved in ASI by serving on committees, working on programs and helping to develop new programs and services. Participation on committees as a student representative or volunteer provides networking and campus-involvement opportunities, giving insight into how the university functions, plans and manages issues. Information regarding appointed student positions and volunteer opportunities is available in the ASI Executive Offices, located in Titan Student Union 207 or by calling 657-278-3295.
Employment Opportunities
The ASI Human Resources Office provides part-time employment opportunities for Cal State Fullerton students. As a student assistant or work-study employee, students can gain valuable job experience, develop personal skills and build their resumes. Employment opportunities are available in a variety of ASI programs, including the Children’s Center, Student Recreation Center, Marketing, Communications and Design, the ASI Food Pantry and the Titan Student Union. For information on ASI employment opportunities, visit asi.fullerton.edu, stop by the ASI Human Resources Office in TSU 233 (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) or call 657-278-7068.
Children’s Center
ASI recognizes the unique needs of individuals aspiring to attend the university, particularly those who are parents of young children. In response to this, the CSUF Children’s Center was established and is sustained by Associated Student Inc. funds. The primary objective is to ensure that educational opportunities at the university are equally accessible to all parents, irrespective of gender, race or financial status. The center, staffed by early childhood professionals, CSUF student aides and interns, delivers a comprehensive developmental program for children aged 3 months to pre-kindergarten. The program encompasses a wide range of activities in art, science, language, physical development, math, reading and music, with a focus on nurturing social and problem-solving skills.
